Reuse first, then recycle

Decommissioned IT equipment is rarely just waste. A significant proportion of what companies wish to dispose of is still in perfect working order and can be reused after refurbishment. That is why, for every consignment, we first consider reuse and only then disposal.

Items that are no longer worth repairing are sent for material recycling via WEEELABEX-certified partners. Metals, plastics and printed circuit boards are separated and returned to the supply chain.

In both cases, you will receive a report that you can use to substantiate your obligations and your sustainability targets.

The course of events

1. Stock-taking

You tell us what is being removed. We assess which part can be reused and which part will be sent for processing.

2. Collection

Collection in sealed vehicles with traceable records; on request, including on-site dismantling.

3. Registration and data deletion

Every device is registered, and every data storage medium is certified as having been wiped or destroyed. We do not carry out recycling without proper data erasure.

4. Refurbishment

Anything that is technically usable is cleaned, tested and prepared for a second life. That is the best approach, both environmentally and economically.

5. Processing and report

The remainder is sent for material processing via certified partners. You will receive a report detailing quantities, methods and serial numbers.

We take on entire branches, individual departments or surplus stock from the warehouse. Even mixed consignments are no problem: sorting is our job, not yours.

Why recycling and buy-back go hand in hand

Many organisations treat disposal and sales as two separate processes. This costs money and time: the valuable equipment goes to a dealer, the rest to a recycling company, and both require their own paperwork.

If it is all handled by a single organisation, the consignment is registered, transported and documented just once. In practice, the proceeds from the reusable equipment often cover the costs of processing the rest.

What’s more, it’s sustainable. A refurbished computer saves many times the amount of emissions released during the manufacturing of a new one, and this is clearly demonstrated in your report.

No recycling without data erasure

A device that is sent for processing often still has a functioning storage medium. It changes hands several times along the way. That is precisely where data breaches occur.

We register and process every data storage device before the device moves on. Without exception – even in the case of devices that are clearly scrap.

Figures for your report

In addition to the GDPR documentation, you will receive an overview of quantities and processing routes. If you are reporting on sustainability or working towards certification, these are the figures you will be asked to provide.
