Server buyout

Buying IT hardware

Selling depreciated IT hardware

Whether you’re replacing workstations, clearing out a warehouse or migrating to the cloud, you’re bound to be left with some hardware. Reuzado buys used IT hardware from businesses and organisations across Belgium: laptops, desktops, servers, storage systems, networking equipment and monitors.

We collect everything from your premises, carry out a certified data erasure on every data storage device and pay out the residual value. Anything that no longer has any technical value is recycled through WEEELABEX-certified partners. You will receive a full report enabling you to demonstrate your duty of care under the GDPR.

A valuation is non-binding and won’t cost you anything, even if you only end up selling part of it.

This is how the buy-out works

1. List and non-binding estimate

Please send us a list of the equipment, including the types and quantities. A basic export from your asset management system will suffice. We will assess the possibilities for purchasing the equipment and provide a range for the residual value.

2. Collection and transport

Our staff collect the hardware, including on-site dismantling if required. Transport is carried out in sealed vehicles with traceable records.

3. Registration and data deletion

Each device is registered by its serial number on receipt. Data storage media are either certified as having been erased or physically destroyed, depending on their condition and security requirements.

4. Reuse or recycling

Our IT specialists prepare anything that is still technically usable for reuse. The rest is recycled in an environmentally responsible manner via WEEELABEX-certified partners.

5. Reporting and payment

You will receive a report by post detailing the serial numbers, erasure method and yield. Payment will be made once the report has been approved.

What IT hardware do we buy?

We cover virtually the entire spectrum of business IT:

  • Laptops and notebooks, individually or as a complete fleet, see buy laptops
  • Desktops, thin clients and workstations
  • Rack, tower and blade servers, see buying up servers
  • Storage systems: SAN, NAS, storage arrays and tape libraries
  • Network equipment: switches, routers, firewalls and access points
  • Monitors, docking stations and peripherals
  • UPS systems, server cabinets, racks and cabling
  • Individual components: hard drives, SSDs, memory, processors and power supplies

We deliberately treat storage systems separately. SAN and NAS systems almost always contain production data, and in the case of a RAID configuration, simply reformatting is not enough. We wipe each of these data storage devices individually using certified software or physically destroy them. You can read more about this at data destruction.

Are you unsure whether a particular type is included? Send us a list – even a raw export from your asset management system will suffice. We’ll let you know which items have residual value and which do not.

We have separate pages for individual categories: buy computers, destroy hard drives and IT recycling.

Why sell IT hardware rather than dispose of it?

From an accounting perspective, depreciated hardware is no longer worth anything, but it often still has value on the second-hand market. Servers, storage systems and recent business laptops, in particular, retain their residual value for longer than most organisations expect.

Selling to a specialist buyer offers three benefits at once. You free up space and save on storage costs. You recoup capital that would otherwise be lost in the container. And you transfer the data risk to a party that documents the destruction and takes responsibility for it.

That last point carries the most weight. Under the GDPR, a device that leaves the premises without being wiped constitutes a data breach that must be reported. Our procedures are specifically designed with this in mind: every serial number is recorded, every data storage medium is documented, and every step is traceable.

on-site data destruction

Data destruction is always part of the process

Whenever we purchase equipment, we assume that there is still data on it, even if you state that everything has been deleted. In practice, almost every batch contains individual data storage devices that are still readable.

That is why we register every device by its serial number upon receipt. Data storage media are overwritten using certified software or, if this cannot be done securely for technical reasons, physically shredded. You will receive a certificate for each data storage medium.

We also offer complete sites and server rooms

Are you closing a branch, clearing out a server room or migrating to the cloud? We’ll take away not only the equipment, but also racks, UPS systems, switches and cabling. On request, we can dismantle items on site and coordinate the collection with your facilities team.

Frequently Asked Questions about Buying IT Hardware

What is the minimum quantity for purchasing IT hardware?

There is no fixed minimum. For individual appliances, we assess whether a collection is cost-effective, or we combine it with another route. For twenty or more appliances, a dedicated collection is almost always possible.
